What we are, and what we are not
The Playhouse Edit is an independent comparison site covering UK-licensed casino operators. I built it because the comparison space is full of sites that describe themselves as independent while running lists ranked by whoever paid the highest commission. That's not comparison; it's advertising with extra steps.
This site is funded by affiliate commissions — when you click a referral link and register at a listed casino, I receive a fee from the operator. That relationship is disclosed on every page that contains referral links, and explained in detail on the Affiliate Disclosure page. The commission rate does not influence where an operator appears in the list or what verdict it receives. If a site has opaque wagering terms and slow withdrawals, I say that regardless of the fee.
What gets reviewed, and how
Every site on this page holds an active remote casino licence from the UK Gambling Commission. That's the baseline — no licence, no listing. Beyond that, I focus on three things that actually affect the experience of using a site:
- Withdrawal speed. How quickly can a verified account access winnings? Trustly (Open Banking) and PayPal operators typically outperform debit card-only sites. Sites that batch withdrawals or delay without explanation are noted.
- Wagering requirement transparency. The multiplier, the game contribution rates, whether the terms are stable or shift without notice, and whether they're clearly stated before you claim anything.
- Game range. Multi-provider libraries give players genuine choice. Single-supplier catalogues narrow options and concentrate risk in one content provider's quality decisions.
I also note ownership (knowing that two different brands run on the same platform matters), mobile app quality, and payment method range. The one-word verdict on each card — Strong, Solid, or Niche — reflects how an operator performs across those criteria taken together, not any single factor in isolation.
